The Ontoto-Kebena river and riverside project, which was completed and started providing services to our people in a short period of time, has expanded its symbolism by increasing the tourist destination of our city. The residents of the area who have been living in danger due to the high level of pollution, floods and landslides, as well as security problems, have been given an appropriate replacement place and compensation, and an opportunity has been created to live a better life. The Kebena River and its surroundings are the center of development, transformation and prosperity, and the benefits are not only for the residents of our city, but for all Ethiopians. The total area of this project is 87.6 hectares. Surrounded by beautiful nature, this project includes a road, standard bridges, sports fields, car parking, library, toilet, children's playground, meeting hall, plazas, many commercial houses and other infrastructure and public facilities. A product of the concept of sustainable development, this eco-friendly project features meandering dams, picturesque waterfalls and extensive greenery including edible plants. City and district leaders of Addis Ababa city administration recently visited the Enteto-Kebena river and riverside development project inaugurated by the Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed. Dardar Birhanu, Head of the Special Office of the Addis Ababa Office of the Prosperity Party, said in his explanation to the visitors that the Kebena River and its surroundings, which have been neglected for a long time and exposed to high levels of pollution and illegal constructions, have attracted the attention of many by putting on an attractive appearance with the help of united hands and combined capabilities. In the future, it is expected that other leaders at all levels and different sections of the society will visit the project.
