(T/M/B February 17/2018 A.D.):-This was stated during an awareness-raising training given by the Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority’s Road Safety Education and Capacity Building Directorate to increase the participation of religious leaders in road safety work.

In the training, which was organized for two hundred religious leaders from 11 sub-cities, it was pointed out that the assistance of religious leaders plays a major role in making the road safety education provided by the Authority accessible to the public to prevent traffic accidents in the city.
The program was opened by the Head of the Finance and Administration Office, Ms. Hawa Wabi, who said that the training aims to help religious leaders in their religious institutions to provide road safety education to their followers in addition to religious education, thereby contributing to the efforts to prevent and reduce traffic accidents in the city.
The Authority is working with various stakeholders and institutions, and especially since the messages conveyed by religious institutions are highly accepted by their followers, the results of road safety education through this channel will be high, and this approach should be strengthened and continued.

Road Safety Education and Training Specialist Ato Qalasedek Tesere gave a detailed explanation on the nature, reality and pillars of road safety, international, national and city-wide road traffic accident data and the role of religious leaders in road safety activities. Then, Road Safety Education and Training Team Leader Ato Tesfaye Berhe presented a document on general road safety information, causes of traffic accidents and the consequences, and what is expected of whom to reduce traffic accidents. The religious leaders also provided their opinions and comments on the documents presented and continued to meet with the Authority on a regular basis to reach a common understanding to work together on road safety awareness activities. The training concluded.
