Current information It is known that earthquakes of different sizes occur frequently in the bordering areas of Afar, Oromia and Amara regions. The events are growing in size and frequency over time. In particular, data show that this week there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 on the Earthquake scale. The government is closely monitoring the events with experts in the field. In addition, by identifying the epicenter of the earthquake, the government has deployed emergency workers from various fields in 12 kebeles to assess the extent of the damage. The 80,000 citizens who live in these kebeles are being prioritized by moving them away from the area to resettle them. In addition, we would like to remind citizens to follow and strictly implement the precautionary messages given by experts, although it has not had a significant impact on major cities so far in monitoring the impact of the earthquake on social service institutions, economic institutions and infrastructure. The government announces that it will continue to monitor the matter closely and provide important information through the relevant institutions. Federal Government Communication Service
