The African Union Commission praised the success of the 7th general election. The Chairman of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Yusuf, expressed his appreciation to the government and people of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia for successfully conducting the 7th general election. In a statement issued by the chairman, he mentioned that the election process showed the determination of Ethiopians to strengthen democracy as the basis of social and economic development. He also appreciated the professionalism and commitment of the National Election Board of Ethiopia to conduct the general election in a smooth manner. According to the results announced by the National Election Board of Ethiopia, the chairman congratulated Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.) and the Prosperity Party for the majority victory. Finally, the African Union Commission reaffirmed its determination to strengthen democratic governance through credible, peaceful and transparent electoral processes in member countries.
