This morning, we graduated from the Food Security and Skills Youth Internship Program, which has transformed 15,492 beneficiaries from dependency to productivity.
Our city, Addis Ababa, is making tangible progress in transforming vulnerable residents from dependency to productivity. This is a testament to the success of our city’s grand vision of “Zero Deprivation and Poverty,” one of the five “Zero Goals” announced by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed.

Over the past five years, more than 695,000 residents who were caught up in the Safety Net Program have been transformed into productivity, enabling them to become self-sufficient and support their families.
On the other hand, since the start of work experience in our city in 2014, 49 thousand citizens, including the 8 thousand 852 youth who graduated today, have emerged from poverty and unemployment and have completed their work experience and moved to business ownership and production through the connections created for them.

Dear graduates of today; Our city needs strong young people like you who are diligent, who make the most of the opportunities they have received, who will change their lives for the better, and who will be role models for others. Your hard work so far is a great example of how you will go beyond yourself and create job opportunities for others and become business owners with your vision and experience. Be strong!
May the Creator bless Ethiopia and its people!
Mayor Adanech Abebe
