(News January 30/2016) Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority has taken over 10,000 square meters of parking space from Bole Sub-city Land Management Office. Binyam Getachew, director of the Directorate of Parking Research and Management, said that the authority has taken over the 10,000 square meters of land in Bole sub-district district 06 in an effort to obtain a proof of ownership map for parking in accordance with the city's master plan. He said that when the Bole sub-district land management office gave the site, it was considered that the area is a high traffic area and a huge parking space is needed. Mr. Binyam said that the site will be used for surface parking on a temporary basis in this fiscal year. He also explained that when the construction of the parking building is completed in the upcoming 2017 fiscal year, it will be able to park 300 to 400 vehicles at a time. He added that the vehicle parking lot is one of the three surface parking lots under the authority's possession at the junction and said that it is a great opportunity for the property to be located in a busy junction area. Mr. Binyam stated that the site will strengthen the organized legal parking associations and create job opportunities for many citizens.
