It was announced that it was possible to reduce the risk of traffic accidents with the road improvement works carried out in the fiscal year. It has been stated that the Road Safety Engineering Directorate of the Traffic Management Authority of Addis Ababa City Administration in the 2016 fiscal year has made it possible to protect the safety of the public in terms of reducing the risk of traffic accidents. During the fiscal year, in order to reduce traffic collisions, especially on pedestrians, 2,000 bollards and 3,000 meters of pedestrian fences were built in the city's high-traffic areas. Speed humps, signs and markings, pedestrian crossings were painted to protect students from traffic collisions in 7 schools along the road. In addition, Summit Kendominium gate 1 and gate 2 areas of Luu Speed Zone / bollards, road markings, signs / road improvement works were carried out, and in the same situation, according to the request of the community, speed warning bumps were made in 100 places identified by research. In addition, 7 new traffic lights and 85 existing traffic lights that provide uninterrupted service by taking energy from sunlight are being upgraded; It was possible to fix the traffic circle by carrying out the complete improvement works of 10 roundabouts that had flow problems and converting them to intersections. Data being studied in the field indicate that road safety engineering improvement works and activities carried out in other sectors have reduced traffic conflicts in the city. The road improvement works carried out by the authority will continue in the next fiscal year and the public is requested to respect the traffic laws and regulations and use the road properly to help the institution's efforts to prevent accidents. It is known that road safety engineering improvement work is one of the activities that the institute will carry out to ensure a peaceful and acceptable traffic movement in the city by 2022.
