On the second day of the 4th regular meeting of the 3rd round of the 5th year of office, the council discussed the draft budget of Addis Ababa city for the fiscal year 2019 and unanimously approved the total budget of Addis Ababa city administration to be 502.27 billion birr. It is stated that the approved budget is 152.26 billion birr or 43.5 percent more than the same budget of the previous year 2018. Of the approved budget, 359.3 billion birr is for capital, 142.97 billion birr is for regular expenses, and 16 billion birr is the reserve budget. The budget aims to achieve the city administration's 10-year and 5-year development strategy goals and directions; It is used to stabilize the economy and reduce the cost of living, create jobs, strengthen micro and small enterprises, ensure sustainable construction and maintenance of infrastructure, and protect and sustain mega projects that have been started, including corridor development. In addition, it has been pointed out in the budget explanation that it will be spent on improving transport and traffic flow, modernizing service delivery and avoiding corruption and theft, building the capacity to implement human resource development, ensuring peace and security, strengthening housing development, water supply and other mega projects and expanding road infrastructure.
