Safety signs for deaf pedestrians have been installed (T/M/B/ July 10/2018): Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority has carried out the installation of signs and indications that provide information about the presence of deaf pedestrians in the area and warn drivers. Mr. Michael Kasu, the head of the road traffic control methods group at the authority's road safety engineering directorate, said that there are deaf students in the vicinity of Black Lion School in the city and the signs have been installed in the areas to protect them from traffic accidents. Engineer Michael Kasu explained that the installation of five signs and indicators in two directions from the National Theater to the Black Lion School and from Theodore Square to the Black Lion School will not only provide information to drivers but also help drivers to take special care when arriving in the areas. The head pointed out that the same international informational signs and indications will be installed in Bole School, Mekanisa Abo and Minilik School for the deaf.
