It has been reported that weekend market centers in Addis Ababa city are playing a major role in controlling the cost of living by offering various consumer products at affordable prices. 256 Saturday shopping malls in Addis Ababa city are offering various consumer and industrial products to consumers at reasonable prices. According to consumers in their different residential areas, Saturday markets are contributing significantly to reducing the cost of living by offering consumer products at affordable prices. According to the consumers, compared to the previous weeks, they mentioned that the prices of many products have been reduced in today's market, and the city administration should continue its efforts to increase the supply of products to the residents at affordable prices. Tsegaye Debele, deputy head of the market development department of the Addis Ababa City Administration Commercial Bureau, said that the city administration, in cooperation with farmers from different regions of the country, brought various consumer products, including onions, directly into the city and sold them at shopping malls and weekend markets at a discount of up to 20 percent compared to the regular market. They added that the office is carrying out various control activities, starting from direct delivery of products from producers to market centers, in order to prevent inappropriate price increases due to the interference of brokers and other man-made problems outside of the market principle. Finally, they urged the consumer community to buy and use according to the posted price when shopping at the weekend markets, and if they are asked to pay more than the posted price, they sent a message to the 8588 tip line or the phone numbers posted on the stalls to make a suggestion.
