The Addis Ababa city administration has announced that those who threw garbage on the recently built infrastructures, went outside of the approved roads and caused damage by ‘negligently' hitting trees planted on road dividers with their vehicles have been punished. 3 institutions have been fined 100 thousand, 50 thousand and 20 thousand birr according to their level of violation for dumping waste outside the approved place. He informed that 5 drivers were fined between 150 and 300 thousand birr depending on the level of damage caused by hitting the palm trees planted on the road divider. He stated that 11 people were fined between 150 and 1000 birr for walking outside the permitted pedestrian path. He called on residents to protect and maintain the built infrastructure and protect themselves from fines and traffic accidents.
