International institutions working on road safety and stakeholders made a field observation on speed management and control in the capital ************** (T/B June 3/2018) :- Addis Ababa traffic management trainees conducted a field observation of the activities of road safety international institutes and stakeholders in the city. Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety senior leader Kelly Larson, international road safety institutions, federal and state development organizations and stakeholder delegations observed the city's radar-assisted automatic information system speed control system development, payment system, regulatory coordination and complaint submission and resolution system in the field. They conducted the observation on the road from Amche to Bole in the morning and in the afternoon. The visitors conveyed their message by giving them an understanding of how the automatic enforcement system will be used to control the drivers found driving over the speed limit and how to be careful when driving over the speed limit, which is more prone to traffic accidents. Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety senior leader Kelly Larson said at the same time that Addis Ababa city is at the forefront of road safety works by working together with 30 other cities to bring better changes. The Oromia regional government is one of the 13 countries and more than 30 regions chosen by the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) to implement road safety policies that have been proven to be effective, he said. Last August, the city of Addis Ababa won a gold medal and a hundred thousand dollar prize in the speed management international competition organized by the Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety in Washington, D.C., which was the first of its kind in Addis Ababa.
