The authority has strengthened the control of drunk driving carried out by its own control staff

(T/MA April 30/2016) :- Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority recently conducted breathalyzer tests on 638 drivers at Bole, Belmikura, Akaqi Kaliti and Arada branch offices. 40 drivers who were found to be driving with more than 0.4 ml of alcohol were fined in the inspection carried out at selected places in the four sub-cities. In addition, 41 drivers who were found to have drunk less than 0.4 ml were given education and reprimands, and the Arada sub-district branch office conducted breathalyzer tests on 50 drivers and gave education to the drivers. The control over drunken driving and other rule violations will also be strengthened and the branch offices urged both drivers and pedestrians to respect the traffic rules and regulations and use their roads. 40 drivers who were found drinking more than 0.4ml with the gun shown in selected places in the four sub-cities have been fined for fouling. In addition 41 drivers who were found drinking less than 0.4ml have undergone education and punishment. Arada sub city branch vet office has conducted breath test on 50 drivers and gave education to the drivers. The branch offices have warned pedestrians to use their roads by respecting the traffic rules and regulations. ·
