A discussion was held with stakeholders (T/M October 14/2017):- Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority Road Safety Awareness and Capacity Building Directorate to ensure peaceful and acceptable traffic movement by road users. Conducted sensitization dialogues with stakeholders to obtain enabling inputs. Amare Tarekegn, Director-General of Road Safety Awareness and Regulation Enforcement Sector of the authority said that in order to ensure a peaceful and acceptable traffic movement, all stakeholders should take their respective roles and work together. Mr. Amare said that it is not only the responsibility of the training office to reduce traffic accidents and improve the flow of the city. Director of Monitoring, Support and Evaluation Mr. Goytom Asfaw presented a report on the activities carried out with the stakeholders in the 1st quarter of the 2017 fiscal year. The stakeholders who participated in the discussion were also on the presented document and to reduce traffic accidents; Especially in creating awareness about the use of roads by pedestrians and the issues that should be followed in order to convert the awareness into action. The participants of the discussion are Addis Ababa Police General Department, Addis Ababa Public Participation and Goodwill Coordinating Commission, Addis Ababa Transport Bureau, Addis Ababa Regulation Enforcement Authority, Addis Ababa Cleaning and Beauty Bureau, Addis Ababa Education Bureau, Addis Ababa Roads Authority, Addis Ababa Ash/Tes/ Licensing and Control Authority, Addis Ababa City Bus Company, Addis Ababa Health Office, Addis Ababa Fire and Emergency Prevention Commission are the work leaders and representatives. Leaders and representatives of Addis Ababa Religious Institutions Assembly and Organizations, Voluntary Traffic Steward Youth Association, Addis Ababa Motorists Association, Addis Ababa Parking Association, Media Forum, Residents Forum, Assistant Student Traffic Steward were present. Finally, the Director General conveyed his message to the discussion participants to do their part and work hard to reduce traffic accidents in the 2017 fiscal year.
