Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority M/General Director Ato Amare Tareqin, who explained the purpose of the memorial day and gave the opening speech of the program, said that today we can prevent road traffic accidents caused by human error and man-made causes at the level of the world, country and our city. We should support and take care of them, said the director general. According to Mr. Amare, road traffic can be prevented and stopped by making the principle of cooperation between all road actors. In this program, we need to make promises and turn them into actions, and religious leaders and media have started the movement by conveying a message to raise awareness about road traffic accidents. On that day, brochures, leaflets and magazines prepared by the Directorate of Road Safety Awareness and Capacity Building were distributed to the pedestrians and drivers of the city's roads. In addition, page-to-page road traffic safety awareness was given with the help of loudspeakers. On the movement stage, the senior leaders of the authority office, branch office managers, traffic police members, security and regulation enforcement bodies, road safety awareness and control experts, voluntary traffic management youth and various sections of the capital city participated in the program. The memorial program for the victims will be held for the next 23 consecutive days starting from November 7, 2017, with various programs such as talk shows, panel discussions, blood donation, walks and supporting and caring for the victims.
