Corrective action was taken against 813 drivers who disrupted traffic flow and violated key traffic safety rules. – The traffic management authority of the Addis Ababa city administration is taking corrective action and enforcing traffic laws and regulations in cooperation with the concerned parties against the drivers who are violating the traffic flow and key traffic safety laws in the monitoring and control work done in the four directions of the city, especially in the areas where the development of the corridor is taking place. The traffic control, regulation and event management department of the official office, in coordination with the institution's eleven branches and other stakeholders, monitored and controlled the enforcement of traffic laws and regulations from 24 to 25/09/2016, especially in the corridor development areas. He has worked to enforce traffic laws against drivers who break the rules. In terms of enforcement of the key traffic safety laws, he noted that driving above the speed limit, driving while talking on a mobile phone, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without wearing seat belts and helmets, and driving on roads reserved for mass transport are mentioned. In particular, it has been stated that corrective measures have been taken by monitoring and controlling drivers who put pedestrians at risk of traffic accidents in addition to disrupting the flow of traffic by stopping vehicles on footpaths. The Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority, being a public institution that works to smooth the flow of traffic in the capital and to ensure the safety of the city community, will continue to control such problems and take corrective action, especially realizing that it will strictly control those who cause damage to corridor developments built with public resources without providing proper services.
