(Ahadu Radio): Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority has announced that action has been taken against more than 2.5 million drivers who violated traffic rules. The deputy general director of the traffic management authority Ato Amare Tareqin told Ahadu Radio that the number was calculated including drivers who have been fined repeatedly. Ato Amare mentioned that more than 300 thousand drivers have violated traffic lights. The official pointed out that the largest number of vehicles that have been prosecuted are drivers who have violated traffic lights. Mr. Amare added that driving over the speed limit accounts for the largest share of traffic accidents in the city. The deputy general director, who stated that more than 287 people died in traffic accidents in the 9 months of the completed fiscal year 2018, emphasized that many works should be done to reduce the risk.
