Deputy Mayor Ato Jantarar Abay stated that Addis Ababa is the capital of Africa, the seat of the federal government and the third diplomatic center in the world. He stated that efforts are being made day and night to fulfill this layered responsibility and to carry out environmental protection works that suit the appearance of the city. The Deputy Mayor also explained that the green footprint development, corridor development, riverbanks and parks construction started by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed's proposal has made a significant contribution to combating the challenges of climate change and reducing pollution. However, he emphasized that the plastic, hazardous waste and noise pollution caused by the rapid growth of the city are against the right of citizens to live in a clean environment, and therefore there is a need for strong control and joint efforts. Ato Jantarar explained that the "Clean Ethiopia for the Generation" movement, which will be implemented for the next three months, will mainly focus on the prevention of plastic pollution, the control of hazardous waste pollution and the reduction of noise pollution. In order for this movement to be successful, the Deputy Mayor Ato Jantarar urged all the residents of the city, volunteers, civic associations, academics and educational institutions as well as the media to fulfill their historical and civic responsibilities.
