Addis Ababa City's Regulation Enforcement Authority announced revised penalty levels to make Addis Ababa internationally competitive, clean and comfortable for its residents. Green areas, parks, roads and various service facilities are being built. Following this, new regulations have been announced that are supposed to help to maintain the benefit of the society and the sustainability of the developments. The Addis Ababa City Regulation Enforcement Authority and the Addis Ababa Sanitation Management Agency issued a joint statement regarding regulations. General Manager of the authority, Major Zerihun Tefera, said that the authority has come into action by modifying the penalty levels in Regulation No. 150/2015, which was previously used for cleaning and related illegal activities. He said that by providing detailed information on the levels of punishment to the public, awareness should be created so as not to be penalized due to lack of information. He said that fines ranging from 2,000 Birr to 100,000 Birr have been imposed on individuals and institutions. According to this :- * Improper handling of the solid waste generated by anyone in the premises, not separating it by type; I'm sorry. Storage in a manner harmful to health and environment; 2 thousand Birr for an individual 50 thousand Birr for an organization *If any cleaning service provider company/association damages the appearance of solid waste while collecting it, 25 thousand Birr *If it does not provide proper service to the customer according to the set standard, 50 thousand Birr *If it receives a service fee from the customer without the approval of the cleaning management agency, 50 thousand Birr *Temporary 50,000 Birr if you do not clean the solid waste storage areas up to 5 meters * Any person who moves on the road will throw away small solid waste such as cigarette butts, soft paper, straws, fruit waste, transport tickets, mobile cards, chewing gum and candy wrappers, etc. 2,000 birr if it is left in a place or in parks, green spaces, corridors *Not keeping the environment clean and green outside of a house or company premises, not cleaning up to 5 meters outside the fenced area of a house; 20 thousand birr *Not cleaning up to 10 meters outside the fenced area of a company/institution ; 100,000 Birr *The organizer of the program who organizes a seasonal and special event and does not clean the area where the event took place on the day and immediately after the celebration; 50 thousand Birr *annually; It has been pointed out that if the owner of the event does not clean the area on the day and immediately after the monthly and weekly religious festivals are held, they will be fined 20 thousand birr.
