A team from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics supported and monitored the activities carried out at the authority's office (T/B December 07/2018):- The members of the supervision, monitoring and support team from the Federal Ministry of Transport and Logistics attended the authority's office and provided supervision and support based on the explanation and observation of the activities performed by the institution on traffic flow and safety. The leader of the group, Ato Dereg Moges, said that four groups have been deployed in the Ministry's office across the country, and their aim is to coordinate, monitor and support the work being done in the transport and logistics sector, and to identify issues that should be given attention in the next 3 years. As a traffic management authority, understanding of road safety, traffic control, parking duties, working with technology, reducing traffic accidents and combating malpractice, as well as communication and public relations methods, coordination and achieving the authority and functions of the entire institution, Mr. According to Mr. Kbebewu Mideksa, the director general of the authority, the institution has 18 powers and duties given by decree to ensure peaceful and acceptable traffic movement. He explained that mainly road safety awareness, traffic control, parking infrastructure management, road engineering improvement and supporting services with technology and providing efficient service are the core activities of the institution. He pointed out that especially in traffic control and parking management works, by improving the service with technology, the ups and downs of users have been solved to a great extent, and by eliminating paper work, the results have been recorded in the level of cost reduction. Ato Kbebeu said that as one of the institutions reformed by the city administration, in order to combat corruption, rules and guidelines should be issued for the activities that are the source of complaints, as well as recruitment should be carried out under special conditions, especially for the control staff, who should receive ethics and skills training at the Federal Police College. In terms of road safety, he pointed out that the institution has taken the lead by serving as the secretary to establish a road safety council at the city level and to ensure that all stakeholders play their part in reducing accidents. He explained that it is a strong work unit that carries out its duties by building the image of the institution by using all mediums in public relations and communication works and by bringing the community's opinions and ideas to the institution as a bridge. After giving further explanations to the above leaders Mr. Amare Tarekhun, Engineer Elias Zergana and Mrs. Hawa, all the top leaders of the Ministry should continue to help the institution.
