During the fiscal year, it was possible to reach more than 15 million people through road safety education. July 22/2016 AD):- Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority in collaboration with its branch offices has been able to reach more than 15 million people through an awareness program conducted repeatedly through various communication methods during the fiscal year. Among the tasks that the authority carries out to ensure peaceful and acceptable traffic movement is educating the public about road safety; During the fiscal year, through the Directorate of Road Safety Awareness and Capacity Building as well as the Awareness Team of Branch Offices, it was possible to inform many road users of ways to prevent traffic collisions. During the fiscal year, awareness was created through the distribution of over 20,000 copies of printed materials containing road safety messages, nine billboards put up in the city, more than 50 radio and television short messages, and a weekly radio program. Also, in collaboration with Ethio Telecom, 4 times different short messages reached 4.3 million mobile users. In particular, the page-by-page teaching method was given to teachers, drivers and volunteer traffic organizers on road safety in squares, exhibitions on holidays, and 400 assistant student traffic organizers from 110 schools were also trained in traffic management and deployed around their schools. Also, every year, victims' day was celebrated and the annual meeting of the road safety council was held in the city. At that time, awareness was created about the role that all parties have to play in informing the stakeholders and senior officials of the harm and severity of traffic collisions and preventing this accident.
