In the month of January, education was given to more than 2 million road users in the city through a special road safety awareness campaign, and more than 11 thousand drivers were inspected. In particular, in January, road safety education was given to the city's road users in a special way by designing a plan with the Addis Ababa Police General Department and signing an agreement document to carry out activities. It was also strictly controlled by the partner. According to the Road Safety Awareness, Regulation Enforcement and Insurance Fund Sector, in collaboration with the General Department of Police, on the occasion of Road Safety Month since January 1st, 211,917 printed materials containing road safety messages have been distributed to the road user community. Voice messages containing various road safety messages were also transmitted. Face-to-face road safety education was given in 57 schools, especially on the occasion of Keteran festival, including ark shelters, in 106 stations of 47 denominations and in areas where the population is large and congregated. In addition, regarding the third-party insurance fund, the world and content of the Third-Party Insurance Proclamation No. 799/2005 as well as the Council of Ministers' Regulation No. 554/2016 issued to determine the premium and compensation rate paid by the third-party vehicle accident insurance policy and its implementation. Information has been distributed to road users in all 11 sub-cities indicating that vehicle accident victims can get emergency medical services at private or government institutions and that medical institutions must provide treatment unconditionally. In addition to the awareness program, in selected places, violations of rules identified as the primary cause of accidents / driving under the influence of alcohol and exceeding the speed limit, not using seat belts, driving while talking on the phone, and not wearing a helmet were strictly controlled. According to Rule No. 557/2016, violation control was carried out on 105,314 drivers. 11,358 drivers were fined. Also, strict pedestrian control was carried out on the routes where the pedestrian infrastructure was completed, and the same corrective action was taken against those who did not use proper footpaths.
