Motorcycle riders received training on helmet use and road safety rules and guidelines ****************** (T/M/B April 18/2016):- Addis Ababa Traffic The Managing Authority Road Safety Awareness and Capacity Building Directorate has provided training on the use of helmets and road safety rules and regulations to motorcyclists who are providing transport services organized by the association in the city. Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority M/Director Amare Tareqin said while opening the training with a speech that more than ninety percent of traffic accidents are caused by driver's mistakes. Ato Amare said that using a helmet can reduce and prevent injuries caused by traffic accidents by 40 to 50 percent. Barnabas Haileu, the leader of the authority's road safety awareness group, who gave training on the use of head caps and road transport traffic control regulation No. 395/2009, said that the purpose of the training is to make motorcycle drivers aware of the seriousness of traffic accidents and take part in any activities to reduce the risk. According to Mr. Barnabas, the three key problems of road safety are road user problems, technical defects of vehicles and road and natural weather conditions. Gebreab Ayele, the head of the Intelligent Transport System Information and Management Group of the Directorate of Intelligent Transport, gave a detailed explanation of the second legal framework of the Addis Ababa City Motorcycle Transport Service Delivery Guideline No. 155/2016 on the legal procedures to be followed by motorcycle drivers. Finally, the trainees submitted questions and comments on the training documents provided and were given an explanation from the house.
