Insurance fund management and compensation directorate discussed with stakeholders The Traffic Management Authority, Insurance Fund Management and Damage Compensation Directorate held a discussion and awareness raising forum with stakeholders regarding the 2017 fiscal year plan and the delivery of Aschoquay medical services. The Director of Traffic Control Directorate of Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority, Ato Ayaleu Itisa, who made the opening speech on the program of the discussion, said that since the insurance fund and damage compensation should be accessible to the society, the authority office has been organized as a single directorate. He said that this discussion was prepared to work with the stakeholders because the insurance fund and damage compensation works are not left to one party but are done through relay and coordination. Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority, Insurance Fund Management and Damage Compensation Directorate, Insurance Fund Research Expert Mr. Asbe Ayele presented the directorate's annual plan, and the directorate mainly focuses on pre-traffic accident and post-traffic accident activities. The directorate works with health and traffic police and if all of them work together, it is possible to help the victims of traffic accidents. Mr. Asbe also said that the directorate needs structural reforms. In addition to the stakeholders, the traffic control directorate and road safety education and capacity building directorates of the authority have been sent a message to work together with the insurance fund management and damage compensation directorate. Ato Bokena Dugasa, a senior expert in post-traffic accident inspection at the Federal Road Safety and Insurance Fund Service, who presented an awareness raising document at the discussion, gave an explanation on the mandatory third-party insurance declaration for vehicle accidents and the guidelines for Aschoquay medical services. According to Mr. Bokena, the purpose of awareness raising is to enable stakeholders at all levels to have sufficient understanding of the legal framework in force regarding the premium rate and compensation amount of vehicle accident insurance policies to be implemented. In addition, the forum will strengthen the joint coordination between the stakeholders. Finally, the participants of the discussion presented their comments and questions on the directorate's plan and the provided awareness raising document and procedures.
