Awareness training has started for traffic control experts at the authority's office. Awareness training was started yesterday. Director General Ato Amare Tareqin opened the awareness program coordinated by the Authority's Traffic Control and Event Management Directorate with a speech. Director-General Ato Amare stated that in the current fiscal year, training has been prepared to help the traffic controller deal with customers and to avoid maladministration and malpractice. Therefore, he announced the start of the training program by instructing the experts to follow the training with attention and ethics in the same training that is being given in a series of rounds. While giving the training, Dereje Warku, the head of the traffic control team at the Directorate, gave a presentation on the main customer behaviors and customer treatment observed during the traffic control, the main ethical lapses observed from the traffic controllers and the solutions that should be taken, what should be the behavior expected from the traffic controller even if the rule breaker commits an inappropriate act, and other topics. In addition, they provided training on the reasons for the need to amend the Road Transport Traffic Control Regulation No. 557/2016, the sections of the regulation that have been amended, the penalties imposed on violators, and the offenses committed by traffic controllers. They also gave an explanation about the directive number 149/2016 issued to determine the movement of trucks and similar vehicles. Finally, the traffic controllers discussed the briefing given to them as a group. The program continues next Thursday.
