The Addis Ababa City Planning Board has discussed and approved a new Local Development Study (LDP) that will increase the city's international competitiveness and host major international and continental events. The approved study has three main areas of focus, which are: 1. The World Climate Change Conference (COP-32) that Ethiopia will soon host is expected to bring more than 80,000 guests to the capital. Currently, the capacity of the city's hotels and guesthouses is only 25,000 guests. To fill this gap, modern hotel and apartment standards have been maintained and new constructions have been completed. 3. Preparation for major sporting events: Just as the city had the opportunity to host the COP-32 conference, it is also preparing to host the Africa Cup of Nations. In particular, the development works around the Adey Ababa Stadium are part of this plan. In general, the following infrastructures will be developed according to COP and FIFA standards: • Road and transport infrastructure; • Development of hotels, restaurants and pensions, expansion of various commercial establishments; • Water, sewage, telecom and electricity, and other technological infrastructure; • Riverside development • Windows of Africa, which is partially developed in front of the stadium, will have a green plaza, golf course, halls, cafeterias, sports fields, various entertainment and similar developments. • The operating process will link new, existing and new infrastructures, and provide a grant for renovating the existing infrastructures around the stadium, while the new ones will be developed by the residents, the government, the investors and the institutions. In the implementation process, the resident will be given priority and attention to develop himself while helping the resident according to the approved plan. As this opportunity will create a wide range of job opportunities and economic revival for the residents of our city, I am now making a call for us to work together to achieve this. May the Creator bless Ethiopia and its people! Mayor Adane Abebe
