Pedestrians who followed inappropriate road use were fined in addition to teaching

(March 13/ 2016):- Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority, Lemi Kura branch office has imposed fines on pedestrians who cross the street in a way that endangers themselves and disrupt the flow of traffic. The branch office has provided education, counseling and social services to pedestrians who cross the street inappropriately. 48 pedestrians were fined by the office in cooperation with the district police department, law enforcement office and volunteer youth. Pedestrians are fined by taking their ID, passport and driver's license and giving them a ticket to pay the bank. In addition, 16 law-breaking pedestrians who are unable and unwilling to pay have been given social services of cleaning the square and managing traffic. The branch office has previously helped pedestrians who cross the streets inappropriately by educating, advising and providing social services: today also pedestrians have been fined according to road transport limit number 395/2009. The office in collaboration with the sub city police department, law enforcement office and youth volunteers has made 48 pedestrians to be punished. Pedestrians were punished by holding ID, passport and driving license and giving them a ticket to pay to the bank. In addition, 16 law abiding pedestrians who can't pay money and are not willing have been given social services to clean the streets and manage the traffic. ·
