A discussion was held with stakeholders on the implementation of Pedestrian Road Use Guideline No. 693/2013 • An agreement signing ceremony was held. (April 10/2016):- Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority's Public Relations and Communication Affairs Directorate organized a stakeholder discussion forum focusing on the implementation of Directive No. 693/2013 issued to implement pedestrian road use. Mr. Amare Tarekhen, the director general of the authority office, who gave an opening speech in the discussion, stated that more than 80 percent of the traffic accidents in our city are pedestrians, and the victims of both serious and minor accidents are pedestrians. Mr. Amare said that in order to solve this problem, before taking punitive action against pedestrians who follow improper road usage, after a great deal of awareness work, now punitive action has been taken according to Rule 395/2009. In spite of the high results recorded, the Director General pointed out that there is a need to hold a dialogue between the stakeholders in order to overcome the challenges and do a better job in order to fully implement the regulations for the use of pedestrian roads. On the forum, a document was presented to inform the stakeholders about the implementation of the guideline number 693/2013 regarding the implementation of pedestrian road use, and to make them aware of their duties and play their part in the implementation of the guideline. If the document can be read from the point of view of implementing the regulation, if the regulatory function is continuous and consistent, if the infrastructure for pedestrians is completed before implementing the regulation, if it is widely implemented in various awareness raising activities, if the regulation and guidelines are applied in a consistent manner to the bodies at all levels, and earlier in the process of controlling the use of the road by pedestrians The ideas, opinions and suggestions of the participants regarding the problems encountered and the solutions to be taken were recorded. Finally, the Addis Ababa Traffic Office Commander Gullat Geset and the Authority's Chief Executive Officer Ato Amare Tarekhin gave a joint response and explanation to the comments and questions raised from the forum.
